Ruto, CSs Announce Key Appointments and Re-Appointments Across State Agencies

President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have made a series of appointments and re-appointments to key government agencies and state corporations.

According to the notices published in the Kenya Gazette issue of Friday, January 9, the appointments span multiple sectors, including trade, export promotion, geothermal development, and revenue management.

President Ruto appointed Joseph Ogendo as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Trade Network Agency Board, with his tenure running from January 9 this year until May 25, 2026.

At the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency Order, the Head of State appointed Dennis Mwirigi as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the agency’s board for three years, effective from January 9, 2026.

The President also reappointed Walter Nyambati as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Geothermal Development Company Board for another three-year term starting January 9, 2026.

He also reappointed Daniel Chemno as Non-Executive Chairperson of the New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union Board, with his new term effective February 10, 2026.

Additionally, Rutoalso reappointed Bishop Dr Stephen Mairorito chair the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) Board for a three-year term beginning January 20, 2026.

Mairori, a religious and public leader, also served as the Senior Pastor of African Inland Church (AIC) Milimani in Nairobi and as the Bishop of the Diaspora Area Church Council within the AIC.

In his previous term, Mairori led the authority through a period of policy and operational changes focused on prevention, community engagement, and regulatory enforcement.

On matters of national revenue, TreasuryCS John Mbadi has also reappointed Hadi Sheikh Abdulahi, Richard Boro Ndung’u, and Lydia Cherono Rono as members of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Board for three years, effective January 13, 2026.

William Oluoch Adera was appointed Registrar of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management for a three-year term, while Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui revoked James Wahome Ndegwa’s appointment to the Business Premises Rent Tribunal.

In the lands docket, CS Alice Wahome appointed Getrude Rapong’o, Mutua Mutisya, Silas Mbaabu Gichuru, and Dr Fredrick Omondi Owino as members of the Physical Planners Registration Board for three years, effective January 9, 2026.
