Kibera-Based Social Media Star Among 10 Global Winners to Build Village with Mr. Beast

A Kibera-based social media influencer has been selected among ten global winners to join YouTube star Mr Beast in a major charity mission in Ghana after taking part in the 2026 One Billion Followers Summit, which concludes Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Dubai, UAE.

The initiative, organized by the One Billion Followers Summit in partnership with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Initiative and the Varkey Foundation, aimed to make acts of kindness go viral across the world.

Participants were required to carry out an act of kindness, post it on social media, tag Mr Beast and the One Billion Followers Summit, and submit a link to their content for consideration.

In a social media update on his Instagram account on January 10, 2026, ten creators were later selected and announced live during the summit, earning an opportunity to travel with Mr Beast to Ghana to help build a village.

Among the selected winners was a Nairobi influencer, Godfrey Mwamburi Wavonya, identified as ‘duty_boy_stylish’ on Instagram, who stood out as one of the few participants from informal settlements, including Kibera.

While working alongside university colleagues and online supporters, Wavonya focused on helping vulnerable groups, including cooking food to feed street children and homeless adults in rescue centres.

Aside from food, his acts of kindness also included purchasing clothes and shoes for homeless kids and adults, thereby offering dignity and comfort to those in need.

Speaking after his selection, the influencer said being chosen was both humbling and motivating, describing it as proof that kindness can emerge from anywhere.

“What one man can do, two people can do better,” Wavonya said, calling for collective action rather than individual efforts.

He added that helping once is not enough and encouraged consistent support for vulnerable communities.

The influencer urged politicians, artists, and fellow content creators to use their platforms to drive positive change.

His story has since inspired many online, reinforcing the campaign’s message that, 'simple acts of kindness, when shared, can create global impact.'
