How Top National Schools Performed in 2025 KCSE Exams as Moi Kabarak Leads

Leading national schools across the country have posted impressive results in the recently released 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

This is according toprovisional results compiled from school tallies, which rank schools based on their mean scores. Moi High School Kabarak in Nakuru County emerged as the top school with a mean score of 10.59.

The school had 82 A-plains and 150 A- with only a single student failing to attain the university entry grade of C+ out of the 450 students from the school who sat for KCSE.

In one of the most competitive examinations in the country, other top schools that led the list include Alliance, Maranda and Murang’a High Schools.

Others are Alliance Girls, Kapsabet Boys, Starehe Boys Centre, Mang'u High, Maseno School, Pangani Girls, Asumbi Girls, Nairobi School and Lenana High School.

Alliance High School recorded a mean score of 10.47, up from 10.28 in the 2024 KCSE examinations, with Maranda High School emerging third with a mean score of 10.20

In Nandi County, Kapsabet Boys maintained its stellar performance in last year's KCSE examinations, with the school hitting a mean score of 10.00, a slight drop compared to the previous year.

In the Nyanza region, Maseno School recorded a mean of 9.8, while Asumbi and St Francis Rang'ala Girls' High Schools posted mean grades of 9.7 and 9.6, respectively.

While the official results are expected from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), the provisional outcome provides an early outlook of how the country’s academic giants performed.

Of the993,226 candidates who sat the 2025 KCSE examination, 492,012 were male, while 501,214 were female, representing 49.54 per cent and 50.46 per cent of the total candidature, respectively.

The number of candidates with direct university entry qualifications of mean grade C+ and above was 270,715, an improvement compared to 246,391 in 2024.

The number of candidates with grade C- (minus) and above was 507,131, while the number of candidates who got grade D+ and above was 634,082.
